Keynote Speech: Global Approach to System of Systems
11:15-11:45
CHEVALIER Thierry – Head of Digital Design Manufacturing Thrust at Airbus
Abstract: Digitalization, energy transition and climate change are creating an unprecedented pressure on making all our main ecosystems highly interdependent and connected. The foreseen evolutions of 5G and edgecloud technologies will enable digitalization to pervade most aspects of our daily lives. Energy transition from fossil to renewable energies will at least temporarily create a competition for energy, from which most industries sectors are addicted to abundant and cheap availability. The climate change studies show that the impact of human activities have reached a level where their impact can’t any more be neglected, and their direct consequences are complemented by many indirect effects we only begin to understand – which in some cases already reveal as having an impact as important as initial ones…
In this context, any system of interest will more and more need to be considered in the context of a “global system of systems”, which will need to be characterized and modeled to enable ‘in-context’ evaluation and convergence of any system of interest specifications. This talk proposes to review the numerous challenges to tackle to enable such a approach of a “global system of systems” and it’s simulation, and some hints toward overcoming them.
